China is often plagued by drought, but it is not the only water crisis the country faces. According to a report released by the Chinese government in 2005, 300 million people drink unsafe water contaminated by chemicals. High levels of arsenic and florine have been found and it is estimated that 90% of cities in China have some form of polluted ground water. Toxic spills dump tons of chemicals into rivers, and the problem is expected to worsen.
